SWG Reckoning FAQ

Welcome to the SWG Reckoning FAQ! Find answers to common questions about our Pre-CU Star Wars Galaxies server and embark on your galactic adventure with confidence.

What is Star Wars Galaxies?

Star Wars Galaxies (SWG) was a groundbreaking Star Wars-themed MMORPG developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts. Launched on June 26, 2003, in the US, with expansions like An Empire Divided, The Total Experience, and The Complete Online Adventures, it immersed players in a vibrant galaxy. The game ran until its closure on December 15, 2011. SWG Reckoning revives this iconic experience for today’s adventurers.

What is Pre-CU and Why Bring It Back?

Pre-CU (Pre-Combat Upgrade) refers to Star Wars Galaxies before the Combat Upgrade (CU) in publish 14.1. Many fans consider Pre-CU the pinnacle of SWG, with its rich, skill-based gameplay. The CU’s level-based changes were less popular, inspiring our mission at SWG Reckoning to resurrect Pre-CU’s authentic experience. We aim to deliver the best possible play environment while preserving the galaxy our community loves.

Which Server Emulator Do You Use?

SWG Reckoning runs a customized version of SWGEmu’s Core3, tailored to enhance the Pre-CU experience while maintaining stability and performance.

Is Running a SWG Server Legal?

Yes, SWG Reckoning is fully legal. We use no Sony Online Entertainment code; all server code is written from scratch by SWGEmu and Reckoning developers, licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
